We were so honored to have Whiteville, NC Uncle-Niece Country Music duo Dustin Chapman & Ryleigh Madison jumpstart Rt66’s Grand Re-Opening celebration week perfectly with their family-oriented, kind-hearts, and bubbly personalities for the first “Talk and Tunes” Show
Monday, April 4, 2022.
Chapman and Madison just released their first collaborative single “Family Thing” on March 18, 2022. Chapman says the support their family has shown them through every circumstance - musical, medical, or just everyday life, inspired him to write this song. “This song is truly autobiographical for us. It speaks of knowing that no matter how far away you may have to go, you know the values instilled in you have prepared you for the road ahead and ultimately helped you realize that your family will always be there to pick you up when things don’t go as planned. As an uncle/niece duo, we are so excited for our first release to be truly authentic to us, our lives, and our backstory.”
During the show, Dustin and Ryleigh sang several songs for us after “Family Thing.” Ryleigh sang for us her debut single “Stranger” written by Dustin specifically for her, which was released in Nov 2020. Next, Dustin gave us a sneak peek into an unreleased song possibly titled “What an Old Song Can Do.” Their final performance of the show was one Dustin wrote in memory of one of his musical influences, Keith Whitley, fittingly titled “Whitley.” This tune was not originally written as a duet but with Ryleigh joining in on harmony, it adds that extra special touch.
On a final note, Dustin just announced that he has been selected as a finalist in three categories for the Interstate Music Awards! They had submissions from all around the world and only five people were selected as finalists in each category. This is an opportunity that could potentially be life-changing for his career. Help him out by clicking the link below to vote in the Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, and Song of the Year categories. Dustin states “Thank you all for believing in me and supporting me, you can vote once a day per email in all three categories!” Interstate Music Awards Voting Link
Filmed by True Faith Media Productions, the music video for “Family Thing” showcases the pure nature of the duo and even features a cameo by their grandmother; it was filmed at the Carolina Civic Center in Lumberton, NC, and their hometown of Whiteville, NC. The audio recording was recorded at Studio 101 in Woodruff, SC, and produced by Brad Phillips and Ian Guthrie.
