Talk & Tunes with Bailey James about her latest release of "The Crow" and much more!

It’s always a pleasure to get to chat with Bailey James and her joyful, infectious personality. Though she shares with us, it is not always that way. She kicked off the show with her latest single “The Crow”, which she wrote in memory of her late brother Zane, who passed from suicide several years ago and was fascinated with crows. Bailey adds that she didn’t just write it for him, but also for anyone that's struggling with mental health in their day-to-day life, including herself.

Proudly, Bailey shares with us that she was named The Jason Foundation’s ‘First National Youth Advocate”. The Jason Foundation, was founded in Oct 1997 following Jason’s death by his father Clark Flatt is dedicated to the prevention of the “Silent Epidemic” of youth suicide through educational and awareness programs that equip young people, educators/youth workers and parents with the tools and resources to help identify and assist at-risk youth. This network makes available programs and services for all fifty states. JFI has never charged, since its inception, for any program or resource they have contracted to provide. To learn more about The Jason Foundation, its Affiliates and programs visit their website. Bailey wrote a song for the foundation called "I Won't Be Silent", click the title to listen/see it on YouTube. It is also on Bailey’s Spotify.

As mentioned before, Bailey also deals with her own mental health challenges and realizes the need for so many people to feel like they have a safe space to open up, talk to someone, and feel heard. Music is a huge part of her way of coping with life’s day-to-day struggles and wants to raise awareness, as well as destigmatize the negativity surrounding mental health. Another way she has created to help herself and countless others was by starting her own podcast called “The Finally Free Movement” a safe place to listen, talk, and continue giving back.

You are not alone! Behind the filters… Behind social media… Behind closed doors… We are all battling something. It’s alright to not be alright!

Bailey’s swiftly growing audience celebrates her fresh musical adaptation that is well beyond her years, including her country roots infused with blues, rock-n-roll, and soul. A multi-genre vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter - her vocals are dynamic in both the songs in this episode. Bailey’s ability to capture her emotions and then deliver them to us as listeners are just profound. She finishes off the show with a tune she wrote a while back and released in Jan 2021. A break-up song titled “Swore I Was Over It”. A relatable song, I feel like we have all felt going through a break-up that hurts us the day after thinking “are we really over this, I thought I was but maybe today I’m not and has you questioning the whole relationship. Bailey’s sultry blues shine in this song as well as drawing from the raw vulnerability she is trying to convey to her listeners. “The Crow” brings you that same emotional energy but with a hauntingly beautiful message.
