Mental Health Awareness

Sometimes life just gets a little hectic, we’re sick, or our mental health is on overdrive and we need alternative practices to manage, whether physical or emotional.

You can use deep breathing, guided imagery, or active listening and music can be used with all of these. You may have never thought of this as an alternative pain control method or anxiety coping tool before but I actually practice each of these each time I do a music review, it requires it and it does work.

I put in earbuds, close my eyes, and take a deep breath (continuously throughout the song), I deeply listen to the instrumentation, deciding what each piece is, and as I listen to each word of the lyrics, I imagine what the video to that song would look like.
