Adam Johnson is an emerging country artist with roots in rock ‘n’ roll. Some of his inspirations include Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones along with country artists Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley. Adam crossed over into country music in 2020 and teamed up with artist Andrea An for his sophomore release “Last Call at the Bar,” which is a pop influenced duet and was inspired by some of Taylor Swift’s “1989” era as well as pop artist “Billie Eilish” while still maintaining a classic country feel and storytelling.
“It’s last call at the bar and I’m all alone
In a couple of minutes you might blow up my phone
But I know that it’s over
I guess I should’ve stayed sober
It’s last call at the bar and I’m thinking of you
I can tell from those eyes that I’m in your mind too
And I know that it’s over
I guess I should’ve stayed sober”
Adam and Andrea perfectly blend two contrasting perspectives between former lovers while still maintaining their commonality in their regret and heartbreak. The song is definitely reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s songwriting style with it’s strong bridge and full circle final chorus leaving the listener captivated and satisfied.
Song Credits: Adam James Johnson, Andrea Nguyen An, and Jesse Weiman
